Where to start?....

Well...

Where do I start?....

Firstly sorry for the lack of blogging, there has been a lot that has gone on lately (since June)
Feel like it's been just about forever since my last post.

 

Well I now have a contract YAY ^_^ Can you believe it?! Someone wants to publish what I write? Crazy I know, I got this brilliant news a few months ago and been trying to write like crazy and no doubt myself. I have also been a procasination Queen lately - bad Alaine I know. But I am working on this. I'm currently taking part in NaNoWriMo to try and motivate myself some more.

 

And I finally have the laptop all to myself due to dumping laptop stealer boyfriend for a lot of reasons, and one because he turned in to a grade A jerk - which has helped me create a not so nice person in my book - so I should thank him for that... and well he was jealous I had followed my dream and was being published even though he didn't do anything to try and get himself published even with all my help... but enough of him... There is a new person in my life right now and things are going good - he is also helping me with my book - a guy with a motorbike (cool or what?!) With out the bike ride I'd still be busting my ass trying to be published...

Also enjoying having new friends and finally having a social life, everything seems to have taken off at once - hence procrastinating a little too much lately oh dear... speaking of which - one of my friends Cami has a Music, beauty and fashion reviews and pre-views. blog which I would love for you to drop by and have a little read of - very useful =) http://thriftyniftyshopperuk.blogspot.co.uk/
 

I now had an author page on facebook too! WooHoo...

 

Writing is going well I like to think - just need to get my head down and write when I come home from work.

A writers ideal life

So, I haven't blogged in a few days... From travelling back home (Bolton) from Hull (parents live) and getting back to my actual job, and organsing my birthday party, cleaning the flat, bf stealing the laptop for a game, it hasn't really left me any time to blog, Which I feel lazy about.

I read about my brilliant friends who have kids to care for and husbands and they manage to do all of the 'house-wivey' things and still find time to write and I wonder where in the world do they get the time. And it hit me today, they make time because it's something for them and they enjoy it. But how do you put you foot down and say 'No, you can do some tasks around the house' while I write?

I have also put myself forward to be a 'beta reader' for stories as well. I just hope I'm not taking on more than I can chew so to speak. So today I will write and leave the house tasks to the bf - unless I get bored (writers block) or I can't concentrate on what I'm doing..

Procrastination

Procrastination

So I've been reading a lot on procrastination, and I have to say I have been doing it a lot lately - it's not that I don't want to write - It's just that I don't write, instead I waste away the day on face book or downloading books. I just feel like my creativity has flown away at the moment - ironically this chooses to happen when I feel good about things and have decided on a fresh start, Which makes me wonder. Is creativity best when things are happening in our life? I mean after all - we read to escape our lives for a while, so maybe thats when we write best? Would love to have your opinions? 

Start of a new chapter for me

Well - today / tonight.

I have started a new leaf - I will be tweeting (Alaine_Batty) and blogging regularly to keep people up-dated on how my quest to be published is going and other ramblings as and when they take over.

Due to a close facebook friend being published soon, and a few people today have seen a short chapter I wrote in less than 30mins and they loved it - I have received great feed-back and this has urged me to carry on with my writing.
This is also my birthday month - hence the reason for being in Hull - so lets see if my birthday will bring me luck in my current WIPs.

So wish me luck guys and gals as this is the year I will push my writing skills to the limit and make sure I think more positively towards my writing =)

Writting

So Mills & Boon are running a 'New Voices' competition, and while I love to write and it is well a dream of mine to actually write for them, when I actually sat down to write I encountered writers block, I was struck with the fear that people would not only be judging me but also my story.. and trying to write while taking care of my mum and battling with my dad over various things, isn't all that great.
